How this site works

We're a free guide to shopping for electricity in Texas. We don't sell plans or rank providers. We explain the jargon, point you to your utility, and send you to Power to Choose, the state's official comparison site. Right now we earn nothing from those clicks. If that changes, this page will say so.

Compare plans on Power to Choose ↗

Power to Choose is the state's official, free plan-comparison site run by the PUCT. We don't get paid when you click.

What we do

We explain deregulation, Electricity Facts Labels, contracts, and which utility showed up for the cities we reviewed. The sign-up button goes to Power to Choose.

What we don't do

We don't enroll you. We don't take an address to build a lead. We don't publish a rate table or a provider ranking. We don't run a quiz that guesses your savings.

Where the links go

The compare button is https://www.powertochoose.org with no tracking parameters. Other links go to PUCT, ERCOT, EIA, and utility sites. Government links are normal links. Other outbound links are marked nofollow.

How we fact-check

City utilities on the reviewed pages were checked with a Power to Choose ZIP search on October 12, 2026. Numbers appear only when a public page states them, and the URL sits next to the sentence. The editorial standards page describes that rule.

Disclosure

We earn nothing from Power to Choose clicks today. There is no paid placement on this site. If a partner link is added later, this page will say so the same day.

Questions

Do you sell my info?

No. The address and ZIP lead form is turned off. We don't collect a street address to shop for you, and we don't sell personal information.

Why send me to Power to Choose?

It lists the plans for your ZIP, and the state utility commission runs it. We don't have a live plan feed of our own.

Will you ever use affiliate links?

Maybe later, and only after this page says so. The Power to Choose button is not an affiliate link today.

How do I report an error?

Use the contact page and tell us the URL and what looks wrong.
